Item LM potency of Calcarea carbonica for individualised homoeopathic treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome: A case report(Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, 2025) Khatoon, Rayba; Kamila, Sumanta; Sarkar, Sanjay; Bappa, Javed AquatarIntroduction: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) stands as a prevalent and diverse endocrine disorder affecting women in their reproductive years. It manifests through various clinical symptoms such as oligo-anovulation, polycystic ovaries, and symptoms due to elevated serum androgen levels. Amidst the frequent side effects and limited long-term effi cacy of conventional treatments, there is a growing interest in complementary therapies that can alleviate PCOS symptoms without adverse impacts. Homoeopathy, known for its individualised approach and success in treating various conditions, including PCOS, emerges as a hopeful solution. This case report aims to showcase the favourable results attained through individualised homoeopathic treatment not only in the PCOS symptoms but also the overall complaints of the patient. Case summary: A 25-year-old female visited the outpatient department of The Calcutta Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, West Bengal, India, with complaints of irregular and scanty menstrual cycles for the past two years. She was diagnosed with PCOS based on both clinical symptoms and ultrasonographic findings. An individualised homoeopathic remedy, Calcarea carbonica, was prescribed in fifty millesimal (LM) potency, taking into consideration the symptoms of both particular and general spheres. Follow-ups revealed gradual improvement. The remarkable clinical progress, along with a score of +10 on the Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy (MONARCH) tool, highlights the usefulness of individualised homoeopathic medicine in improving the symptoms of PCOS.Item Resolution of subdural hygroma with Homoeopathy(Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, 2024) Pal, Partha Pratim; Chatterjee, TaniaIntroduction: Subdural hygroma (SDH) is a collection of cerebrospinal fluid in the subdural space which may be idiopathic, traumatic or post-surgical occurring mostly in elderly patients. Case Summary: A 42-year-old female reported an acute complaint of compressing headache. The headache persisted even after initial prescriptions of Ruta graveolens 30C and 200C, which did not alleviate the condition. Further evaluation was done with a computed tomography scan, which revealed left-sided SDH. Tuberculinum 1M was prescribed, but even though the pain subsided, profuse, watery discharge began to ooze from both the ears and nose, which eventually stopped spontaneously. After six months, the headache recurred and Tuberculinum 1M was repeated. The magnetic resonance imaging scan initially showed subdural effusions, dural thickening and mild ischemic white matter changes and after homoeopathic treatment, no abnormality was reported. The management of SDH remains challenging, and documented cases of SDH treated with homoeopathic medicines could contribute to the evidence-based medical literature.Item Ichthyosis vulgaris successfully treated with individualised homoeopathic medicine Dulcamara 200C(Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, 2024) Singh, Lalith; Manoharan, Raja; Mitra, Sukanya; Purkait, RajibIntroduction: Ichthyosis vulgaris (IV) is a hereditary condition that often manifests in infancy but can also exist from birth. It is a recalcitrant disorder relapses often and even shows the least response to various therapeutic options. Extensive literature review have revealed a dearth of appropriate evidence-based documentation on treatment of ichthyosis in Homoeopathy. Case Summary: This is a case of IV in a 20-year-old male, manifested as widespread scaling and itching since childhood. Following homoeopathic principles, Dulcamara 200C was prescribed. Outcome related to impact on daily living (ORIDL) scale was used to evaluate the patient-reported outcome measure subjectively, and the improvement was assessed on the ORIDL scale (score +3). The improvement in quality of life (QoL) was evaluated using the dermatology life quality index questionnaire, and the QoL improved with a score reduced from ‘20’ to ‘0’. Photographs are presented as objective evidence. The Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy (MONARCH) was used to assess potential causal attribution. The overall score (+8) of MONARCH substantiated the possible causal attribution to homoeopathic treatment. In this instance, the case was successfully resolved with Dulcamara 200C in just 3 months, with no further recurrence. Conclusion: More research with controlled trials is warranted in the future to validate the role of Homoeopathy.Item Infantile haemangioma treated with Homoeopathy(Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, 2024) Kaur, Harpreet; Singh, RavinderIntroduction: Infantile haemangiomas (IH) are common benign tumours of infancy. Approximately, one in ten infants gets affected. The male-to female ratio is variable, with some reports suggesting that females are more prone than males. In India, the prevalence of IH in various studies has been reported as varying from 0.1% to 0.28%. The head and neck are the regions where most of the haemangiomas are located. The lesions are apparent soon after birth and are followed by rapid proliferation during the first year of life and a gradual involution occurs over the next five to ten years. Case Summary: This is a case of a six months old female child with IH on the scalp which was completely resolved within two years with homoeopathic treatment. The improvement was assessed using the Vancouver Scar Scale. The photographs of the lesion were taken during treatment to keep track of the progress. The follow-ups were recorded at regular intervals to look for any recurrences and complications. This case clearly exhibits that IHs undergo early resolution under homoeopathic treatment without any adverse effects of the medications. More such case reports and clinical trials are required to illuminate the effectiveness of homoeopathic treatment for the regression of IHs.Item Pointers to reporting a case(2022) Kaushik, SubhashItem Clinical case reports: A time-tested, traditional way to enhance evidence(2022) Khurana, Anil
