Item Homoeopathic treatment of chronic urticaria – A case series(2020) Rath, PadmalayaIntroduction: Urticaria is a kind of skin complaint with red, raised and itchy bumps. Urticaria frequently occurs after an infection or as a result of an allergic response to some medication, insect bites or food. Psychological stress, exposure to cold or vibration may also trigger urticaria. Urticaria occurs with a lifetime prevalence of around 20%. In around 30% patients of urticaria, attacks often recur for months or years. Cases summary: This is a case series of five patients suffering from chronic urticaria having erythematous lesions, intense itching, redness and swelling treated at the Dermatology outpatient department of Dr D. P. Rastogi Central Research Institute for Homoeopathy, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. The patients were prescribed indicated constitutional Homoeopathic medicines. Changes in haematological and serological tests, Measure Yourself Medical Outcome Profile 2 and Urticaria Activity Score summed over 7 days at baseline and at the end of treatment showed reasonable improvement in disease as well as in the quality of life. Homoeopathic medicines such as Apis mellifica, Calcarea carbonica, Rumex crispus, Pulsatilla and Histamine were found useful.Item Management of PCOS through Homoeopathy-A case report(2018) Rath, PadmalayaPolycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that affects approximately 5% of all women which are very commonly found in day?to?day (routine) practice. However, these cases present with many complications and it is difficult to cure in contemporary system and treatment is also very costly. A case of 22 years female suffering from PCOS reported here was treated successfully within 1.5 years by a single individualised homoeopathic medicine Calcarea cabonicum 30?1M with repetition as per requirement, The improvement is evident from regularity of menstrual cycle and also from the ultrasonography (USG) reports. The case was observed for further 3 years without recurrence which suggests that permanent cure is achievable through individualised homoeopathic treatment.Item Polycystic ovarian syndrome and homoeopathic management(Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, 2024) Rath, Padmalaya; Gautam, Priya; Goswami, Amiyananda Dev; Jana, Shib NarayanIntroduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a disorder of chronically abnormal ovarian function and hyperandrogenism (abnormally elevated androgen levels). It is manifested by irregular menstrual cycles, polycystic ovaries, acne, excess unwanted hair growth, obesity, etc. PCOS can affect a female’s fertility. The global prevalence of PCOS varies from 5% to 18%, with an average prevalence of 276·4 cases per 100,000 people in Europe. The prevalence of PCOS in India ranges from 3.7 to 22.5% depending on the population studied. Case Summary: This is a case series of five patients suffering from PCOS, assessed on the basis of intermenstrual duration, acne global score, Ferriman-Gallwey score (FG score), ultrasound reports for the size of ovaries, biochemical and hormonal reports at baseline and at the end of treatment. In this case series, individualised homoeopathic medicines were given for the management of PCOS. Indicated constitutional homoeopathic medicines, such as Pulsatilla, Sepia, Calc. carb. and Nat. mur. were prescribed to these patients. The cases responded with marked improvement in intermenstrual duration and body mass index scores, along with hormonal derangement.
