Item Benign prostatic hyperplasia treated with Staphysagria in LM potency(Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, 2025) Moorthi, Karunakara; Tharshini, K.R. SivaIntroduction: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a non-cancerous condition characterised by the enlargement of the prostate gland in men. When the prostate enlarges, it can press against the urethra and cause various urinary symptoms. Case Summary: A 50-year-old man complained of unsatisfactory micturition, feeble urine flow, difficulty in initiating urine, dribbling at the end of urine and anxiety regarding his future and sensitivity to others’ opinions. The patient was diagnosed with BPH based on clinical presentation and the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS). After case taking, Staphysagria in LM potency was prescribed based on symptom presentation. Individualised homoeopathic medicine was selected, and the patient’s recovery was seen with ultrasonographic findings and a reduction in the IPSS. The Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy score of +9 indicated that clinical improvement was likely attributable to the homoeopathic treatment. This case study emphasises the necessity of urological management of BPH and recognising and incorporating psychological components for holistic patient care.Item Lateral venous ulcer treated with Homoeopathy using a miasmatic approach(Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, 2024) Moorthi, Karunakara; Reshma, P.Introduction: Loss of all or a portion of the dermis, as well as the epidermis, causes an open sore known as an ulcer. Venous leg ulcers are late signs of venous hypertension and chronic venous insufficiency. Long-term ulcers are difficult to heal and lastly opted for skin grafting and surgery conventionally. This case report provides insight into the treatment of venous ulcer with homoeopathy using the miasmatic approach and helps to provide evidence for further research in this area. Case Summary: A 61-year-old female presented with ulceration near the lateral malleolus of her left leg for the past 6 years. The non-healing ulcer was successfully treated with homoeopathic treatment within 1 year. After case taking, Syphilinum 200C was prescribed considering the miasmatic expression, resulting in symptomatic improvement and Calendula Q externally for an initial 30 days as supportive care followed by Sulphur 200C toward the end of treatment. Homoeopathic medicines led to a remarkable improvement, it was measured using the leg ulcer measurement tool along with photographic evidence and Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homoeopathy. Conclusion: The result was encouraging, exclusively with Homoeopathy medicine; yet, for stronger evidence, more extensive, rigorous research projects are required.Item Uterine fibroid and haemorrhagic ovarian cyst treated with homoeopathic medicine Sepia officinalis in LM potency: an evidence-based case report(Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, 2025) Moorthi, Karunakara; Tharshini, K R SivaIntroduction: Uterine fibroids are the most common benign neoplasms of the female genital tract in reproductive-age women. The wide range of symptoms includes menorrhagia, metrorrhagia, continuous/post-menopausal bleeding, pain and pressure symptoms. The haemorrhagic ovarian cyst is an adnexal mass which resolves spontaneously by itself but requires surgery if it is more than 5 cm in size. Case Summary: A 46-year-old female patient came to the outpatient department with profuse uterine bleeding during menses lasting approximately 8–10 days and cutting pain in the lower abdomen extending to the back for two years. Magnetic resonance imaging studies showed a uterine fibroid along with a haemorrhagic cyst. Sepia officinalis was prescribed based on the results obtained from repertorisation of the totality of symptoms. The Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy score of +8 indicated that clinical improvement was likely attributable to the homoeopathic treatment, which aligns with imaging results obtained during and after treatment. This case report emphasises the effect of homoeopathic treatment on uterine fibroids and haemorrhagic cysts.
